“It’s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.”Hans Selye
Not enough hours in the day. Honking horns and screaming children. Everyone rushing everywhere. No end in sight.
Stress comes in many guises. Stress management coaching identifies the stressors in your life, helps you to find ways of changing what can be changed and enables you to develop tools to deal with those that can’t. Stress management is all about taking charge: of your lifestyle, thoughts, emotions, and the way you deal with problems.
Stress now seems to be a part of everyday life. Unfortunately evolution has not caught up – our bodies don’t realise that and still react in a myriad of ways dating back to our ancestors ‘fight or flight’ response. Stomachs contract, blood pumps, some hormones race higher, others drop lower. Our strength and power are momentarily superhuman and then along comes the realisation there is no threat – our blood thickens, our IQ drops, our muscles get tight. Our brains affect our bodies and our bodies affect our brains. Stress management is about finding ways for your body and brain to help each other.
